I went to the indy card on 4/10 to check it out and get some things signed. Matt Borne was signing as Doink before the wrestling started. He had photos he was signing for $5. I said hi and took out a WWE Classics Doink figure to have signed. His girlfriend acted as agent and said “That will cost $10 to get signed.” I didn’t understand why she wanted more but said fine. Matt then said “What are you going to do, sell this on ebay?” I laughed and explained I was a collector. Was it any of his business if I was? It’s not like he signed it for free. He then acted like I was just there make money on a signed figure. Yeah, I paid $15 admission, $10 for a figure and $10 for an autograph to cash in. Great logic. If I brought 10 figures in to get signed, I would understand. I didn’t want to take a pic after that.

The matches were decent for the first half of the show.
Red, Borne,Daffney and Doring were the stars that wrestled the fist half. Abyss cut a promo and signed at intermission.

Abyss had promos and other photos for sale. I just wanted my program signed. He said “Oh, the big program” and happily signed it. I then asked him how much I owed him and said “You’re good.” The fact that he kept up the free autographs with a program sale even at an indy show really impressed me. He took a photo with me and was a total class act. I don’t think I ever met a wrestler who was more appreciative of his fans. The next thing that happened cracked me up. Danny Doring sat next to him and said started talking to everyone in line. Danny said “Everyone, this Abyss! He gets powers from Hulk Hogans ring!” Chris kept saying “Shut, up Danny” under his breath while laughing a bit at Danny breaking his balls.

The second half had indy wrestlers with the exception of Abyss. The one guy that stood out was “The German Hammer” Josef Von Schmidt. I remember when he wrestled as Pat Gunner years ago and thought he lackluster. He has this Nazi character that he does in an entertaining way. He does subtle things that make him stand out at an indy show.

Abyss vs. Mike Magnum was a Monsters Ball match. Magnum took a beating with a chair shot, dead end sign shots and being put though a table with thumb tacks. Of course, my camera died when this happened.

Good show. I expected Daffney to sign, but never did.
